Hall Council Minutes January 12th 2006

Meeting commenced at 8:00pm

SA report:
- Savac is requesting money for repairs, which is set at $800 but will likely be raised.
- The equestrian club is asking for $2750.
- The history club is asking for $1300.
- Cheerleaders got $2000 for new uniforms.
- The vagina monologues will be going on in the Hewitt union from the 16th to the 18th.
Treasury report:
- Account balance is $1523.62.
RM Reports:
- Reminded students sign in sheets are in front and don’t try to sign in roommates.
Senior Staff:
Jackie
- The new door going in will be card access and will be used for additional security.
- Fire inspections are coming up so make sure rooms are up to code.
- Look out for intentions surveys.
- Remember to recycle; recycling awards will be given out.
- If you have heating problems contact your RM.
- If you have a single you need to sign a letter wither saying you will consolidate with another single or that you will be given a single at any time.
- If you lost your mailbox code leave your name at front desk and Jackie will check your code.
- New movies will be put behind desk

Robyn
- Robyn wanted to thank everyone for their cooperation during the all hall meeting.
- Let RM’s know if you have any conflictions with GST work, be creative in fulfilling requirements.
- Look out for upcoming programs.
Derek and Frankie RHAB meeting:
- The overnight guest policy will be changing to a resident can sign in an off campus guest of the opposite sex, and the hall consensus is to impliment changes as soon as possible.
- Comments from the customer satisfaction survey will be posted in all the dining halls.
- Renovations for lakeside will be finalized within the next few weeks; the budget for lakeside renovations is being cut from 9 million to 5 million dollars.
- Spring room selection process is changing and the first step to pay your deposit will be online from March 23rd to 27th, if you don’t pay deposit then you will have to wait until the end of the process and you ill get the leftover rooms.
- Barbara streets came in to talk about the You Got Served competition, where teams will be competing in dance. At the competition there will also be free classes, food sampling and eating disorder tests.
- We talked about free items the hall could receive if people can be mature with shaving cream.
- The next meeting is February 22nd where we will receive updates.
Fundraising ideas:
- None were given
Courtney:
- Contact Courtney if you would like to be on the Hall Murder committee.
- Final rules for Hall murder will be given next week at hall council.
- The cost for playing will be $1.
- The prize will be half of the money made.
Open Floor:
Zach Budnick:
- Proposed to have brisk iced tea put in the pop machine.
- There were no objections.
- Zach also proposed that there be a written financial statement bi weekly posted on the website or printed out.
- There were no objections.
Sarah Kane:
- One of her families close friends house burned down, their friend is also an Oswego grad with two children.
- Sarah is asking for a donation to help the family.
- RM Kristen made a suggestion that we use the miss a meal to raise money.
Sam Scolza:
- Sam asked if we would be affected by the lakeside renovations.
- The answer is not while we live in Johnson as residents, but eventually lakeside will be closed during the renovations.

Hall council minutes December 4, 2005

Meeting commenced at 8:06 pm

Senate report:
-President Farrell talked about income lines
-WNYO is asking for $3000
-The cheerleaders are asking for money for new uniforms
-Ski Club is asking for $1600 out of $4750 for transportation for their trip to Canada
-Vote: For 20, Against 1, Abstentions 4

RM/ Senior staff
Sophie,
-Quite hours began and community service opportunity available, making cards for nursing home
Robin,
-Letters for relocation will be put in mailboxes this week
-Patrick and Robin called an open forum to get input on GST work next semester and would like more input, Suggestions can be made to Robin
Patrick,
-No programs this week
Jackie,
-Read a short story “Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff”
-24 hour quite hours started

Hall Council- Proposed that 2 hall council meetings be mandatary next semester

Courtney:
-$280 was made in ticket sales at the Snowball dance.
-Courtney extended her thanks to everyone who helped plan

Hall council asked for suggestions for hall council next semester
-None were given

Open Floor

Thomas J. Rees
- Tom would like to be reimbursed for $85 spent to rent speakers for the dance
-Vote: For 25, Against 2, Abstention 1

Savac
-Introduced 50/50 raffle to raise money to make repairs to headquarters, the cost is $10 a ticket and prizes are 1000, 600 and 400 dollars and runs until February 14th


Pat Baker
- Wants to make a proposal for hall council to buy tickets
- Proposal was tabled until next semester/year
- Wanted to know the status of the 2nd floor pizza party
- It was determined that the 2nd floor would be given a gift certificate for $50.00 for the pizza place of their choice

Derek Dunning
- Would like to be reimbursed for the $35.00 he spent on pizza for the snowball dance after party
- Vote; For 19, Against 7, Abstention 3

- There was then a discussion on the cause for purchasing the pizza
- There was then a vote to re vote
- Vote; For 4, Against 12, Abstentions 4
- Matter closed

RM Stephanie
-Suggested a cheat sheet for the rules be posted

Harry Iyer
-Commented that he enjoyed the dance but was unhappy with the intoxicated guests

Thomas Rees
- Tom proposed that if in the event that children’s names are left on the Christmas tree that a set amount of money be used to buy at least one of their desired gifts, the amount was set at $7.50
-Vote; For 12, Apposed 5, Abstentions 0

Hall council minutes November 27, 2005.

Meeting commenced at 8:02 pm.

Senate Report:
-Tech Education association proposed a mini zamboni.
-Bill for lakeside review, 90 percent to be used for making copies.
-No opposition

Penny wars update:
-1st place: 2nd floor
-2nd place: 4th floor
-3rd place: 1st floor
-4th floor: 3rd floor
- $227.28 total made.

Dance update:
-$450.00 made in date auction
-Dance planned to be at ozone
-Dress in semiformal attire
-Snowflakes are needed for decoration can also count as community service.
-Tickets on sale Mon-Fri 5-7, tickets cost $5.00.
-Questions, what will transportation to the dance be.
-Answer, Centro bus schedules will be posted.

-For Christmas break students must be out 24 hours after last final, if more time is needed contact Jackie.

Patrick:
-Monday last faculty after dark meeting with Sharon Cane, dinner at 5:15, res life at 7:00.
-Tuesday rainbow alliance bake sale.
-Wednesday at 8:00 relax and squeeze some balls, counts as a Res Life
-Thursday 1 shot 2 shot 3 shot floor counts as TPG and Res Life
-Web site is not updated.

Dr. Jay Button
-Invited residents to read Polar Express in his office.
-Read poems with a Christmas theme.
